Within the St. Louis Metropolitan Area there are a number of non-profit initiatives focused on impacting the different demographics of our community, and it can be overwhelming to sift through them all and choose only one or a couple causes. Moreover, there is a way for individuals to support a variety of these issues through one donation. United Way of Greater St. Louis Area is a non-profit organization that unites more than 160 agencies.
According to their 2017 Annual Report, United Way of Greater St. Louis helped 140,000 people meet their basic needs. A majority of these contributions came from the more than two thousand companies United Way has an enduring relationship with. United Way was even been able to reach over 17,000 local volunteers to give back. While there is a great deal donated by companies, we can all agree that United Way would not be able to continue their good work without contributions and engagement from community driven individuals. If you would like to make a donation, follow this link. If you prefer to volunteer, head this way!
In 2017, United Way raised $75,650,000 through general funding and workplace campaigns to help people in the St. Louis region, and this year they hope to raise even more so that they can do more.
It’s also worthy to note, 90% of your donation goes to straight to the causes. United Way believes that taking a 10% administrative expense is enough for them to run this powerhouse of giving back.
